Was attempting to practice by doing sketches with a pen. This is supposed to force you to check you proportions better and make better line placement choices. For some reason I saw this pic and said, "I'll try that!" So it's SUPPOSED to be jessica Alba as Nancy from Sin City. But as you can see I didn't nail the face at all.
Somehow I still like the pic in it's own right even though it's not right.
I like how this one came out and while you can say you didnt nail the face, its real easy to see who its supposed to be and i do see jessicas face and her eyes so i think its more of a success .I will say this,im no master inker but i have inked many pieces so i would say it would be a good excercise to try this one again but in brush and pen ink,ill give you an example because some of my work tends to go to the black shadow side of inking. [link] with that one i was going for heavy shadow feel, which i can see in your nancy above. Although its needs the color to balance it out which i havent gotten around too. Great job.
I'm no inker. Really. This one was completely done in blue ballpoint with all the underlying sketching done with the pen. Might be an idea to give black ink and/or acrylic a try. Time shall tell.
I actually saw your Dark fairy last night. Pretty cool likewise. I was thinking of giving it a try in colour. If you don't mind.
A number of years back i said the same thing....im no inker, but there were people who wanted to ink my work and i was ok with that ,but as you get better you kinda decide hmmm maybe i wouldve done that differently.Im not saying they massacred the artwork but...its what made me decide maybe i should start inking my own stuff.
think about it,that nancy would be powerful in black tones with a little cross hatching to put in ,to balance it.
no i dont have a problem ,it would be cool to see someone elses take on my art, just yesterday i submitted the soap and suds to [link] he wants to do another collaboration just him doing the colors he told me he was putting my soap and suds on his list of contenders but he did say it would be a nightmare to color and i agree with him.
I did check to see if i had a larger version on my hard drive of the dark fairy and i dont,if you need a larger version let me know but id need a day to track that one down. sorry for the length of this message.
Actually that's how I found your stuff was through J.Estacado's journal.
I agree too that will be a challenge.
I don't really need a larger version as the program I use keeps it as a tracing image and puts it to the size of the project. Then I go from there. Don't know when I'll get to it but I will get to it.

We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
